Ben Healy (EF Education First) won the queen stage of the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg. At the finish of the third stage at the Château de Vianden, he won by 15 seconds ahead of Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates) and 18 seconds ahead of Dylan Teuns (Israel-Premier Tech). Healy also takes over the yellow jersey of the overall leader.

Bastien Tronchon (Lidl-Trek), Jon Izaguirre (Cofidis), Remy Mertz (Bingoal WB), Gilles de Wilde (Team Flanders-Baloise) and Mats Wenzel (Leopard) formed the day’s breakaway. With less than 60km to go, the riders embarked on the difficult final circuit with the Côte du Niklosbierg, to be covered three times. Many riders in the peloton were dropped and the breakaway was caught a little later. Healy tried his luck with 18km to go and was never caught again.

The stage had started 40 minutes late, following an accident on the highway that prevented all the teams from arriving in time at the start in Mertert. The neutral zone before kilometre 0 was shortened by around 8km.

Ben Healy (EF Education First): “I like being at the front because it allows me to ride at my own pace. Behind, we still had Richard Carapaz in reserve. The aim is always to get the best possible result. I wanted to have a gap before tomorrow’s time trial, and I’ve done that. There are only two stages left. I want to keep the yellow jersey.”
