On 4 and 5 July, Weiswampach and Parc Hosingen played host to an outstanding weekend of international youth cycling. With the Youth Races by Škoda Tour de Luxembourg and the Four Nations U23 Championships, TDL Organisation once again brought together some of the world’s most promising young riders for two days of exciting competition.
In the junior category, Sébastien Suppi (EST/Cannibal Bahrain Victorious) claimed victory in the 76th Grand Prix Général Patton after 103.9 demanding kilometres, finishing ahead of France’s Soen Le Pann and Slovenia’s Maj Bohak. Dave Cichy was the best-placed Luxembourg rider in 27th position.
The 6th Grand Prix de Luxembourg was won by reigning European Junior Champion Karl Herzog (GER/grenke-Auto Eder), who produced an impressive solo ride on the challenging course. France’s Soen Le Pann and Enzo Hincapie (Décathlon CMA CGM U19) completed the podium. The race was disrupted by a major crash shortly after the official start, leading to a temporary neutralisation.
At the 27th Critérium Européen des Jeunes, Dutch rider David Van Aalst (WPGA) secured both the stage victory on the final day and the overall classification. The opening stage had been won by Belgium’s Lars Peers (Crabbé-DSTNY).
The Four Nations U23 Championships also delivered high-quality racing. In the women’s event, Switzerland celebrated a one-two finish with Lorena Leu ahead of Zoe Schiess, while Luxembourg’s Liv Wenzel finished third overall and claimed the national U23 road title. The other national titles went to Laura Kronburger (Germany) and Tabea Huys (Austria).
In the men’s race, Paul Fietzke (Red Bull-Bora-HansGrohe Rookies) took overall victory and was crowned German U23 Road Champion. The remaining national U23 titles were won by Anatol Friedl (Austria), Nicolas Ginter (Switzerland) and Flavio Astolfi (Luxembourg).
With four international races and the Four Nations Championships, Luxembourg once again confirmed its reputation as an outstanding host of elite youth cycling events, providing the next generation of riders with an excellent opportunity to showcase their talent on the international stage.
