A new partner city and a large variety of stages

The 82nd edition of the ŠkodaTour LuXembourg 2022 will once again offer plenty of entertainment to cycling fans with a very challenging route. The contenders for the overall victory will not be able to hide from the start of the race, which will take place from September 13 to 17.

The first stage starts in Luxembourg-City and features four categorized climbs. After passing through the centre of the country, the race heads north across the fearsome Côte d’Eschdorf. The riders will have to play their cards close to the vest on the Côte de Stafelter, shortly before the stage finishes in Kirchberg, a district of Luxembourg-City.

Junglinster, the newly acquired partner municipality, will launch the second stage. Although the Col de l’Europe is on the menu, the sprinters will want to take their chance in Schifflange.

The third stage marks the beginning of the decisive phase. This queen stage includes two HC climbs in the last kilometres before the finish line in the centre of Diekirch.

As in 2021, the fourth day is marked by a 25 km long individual time trial, which leads from Remich to Schengen and back to the starting point. Steep slopes in the beautiful setting of the Moselle vineyards will certainly cause problems for some riders.

The cycling stars won’t be able to relax on the fifth and final stage of the ŠkodaTour LuXembourg: after the start in Mersch, the riders will have to climb some challenging hills in the north of the Grand Duchy, before tackling the steep Pabeierbierg three times on the final course. The successor of Joao Almeida, champion of the 2021 edition, will finally be confirmed at the finish line near the Hall Victor Hugo.
