Grand-Prix General Patton, Grand-Prix de Luxembourg and Critérium européen des Jeunes

Events rich in history

A busy weekend! The TDL Organization asbl, organizer of the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg, will present no less than three international races for juniors and beginners in the north of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

During the 24th Critérium Européen des Jeunes, the elite of the Beginners category will compete in two demanding stages around Troisvierges and Munshausen. The young riders want to present themselves to the recruiters of the major professional teams. Remember that Cian Uijtdebroeks (2019) and Marco Brenner (2018), the last two winners of the Critérium Européen des Jeunes, have since joined WorldTour teams: Uijtdebroeks runs for Bora-hansgrohe, Brenner runs for the DSM team. Luxembourg cycling will be represented by David Loschetter, Lenn Schmitz, Jonah Flammang-Lies, Rodrigo Dos Santos Neves and Flavio Astolfi, among others.

The 74th GP General Patton will take place on Saturday 1st of July  in Troisvierges. Whoever wins there could well be among the big stars of cycling in a few years: Remco Evenepoel (2018 / Soudal-Quick Step), Marc Hirschi (2015 / UAE Team Emirates) and Alexandr Vlasov (2014 / Bora-hansgrohe) are revealed to the Luxembourg public at the time. Since then, all three riders have won some of the biggest WorldTour races. For Luxembourg’s best juniors, like new national champion Oliver Korva, the prestigious GP General Patton could be an indicator of the path their cycling career could take.

The top juniors will face off again on Sunday. But this time on a still very recent race: It will be the third edition of the GP de Luxembourg. As for the winner of the first event in 2019, Maurice Ballerstedt, he joined the professional team Alpecin-Deceuninck three years later and runs alongside Mathieu van der Poel.

The Luxembourg public will therefore be able to attend high-level races.
