Piganzoli wins the time trial and extends his lead

Stage 4: Ettelbruck – Ettelbruck (individual time trial), 20.4 kilometres

Yellow jersey Davide Piganzoli (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) won the individual time trial on the fourth stage of the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg in Ettelbruck. The Italian finished 3” ahead of Andrea Raccagni Noviero (Soudal Quick-Step) and 19” ahead of Leo Hayter (Modern Adventure Pro Cycling).

Raccagni Noviero spent a long time in the provisional lead and was only displaced by the last rider to start, the race leader.

Piganzoli thus strengthens his hold on the general classification. He now leads Matteo Vercher (TotalEnergies) by 47” and Thomas Gachignard (TotalEnergies) by 49”.

The reactions

Davide Piganzoli (Team Visma | Lease a Bike): “It was really hard. I wanted to go flat out, which I have never really done in a time trial before. The second part of the course, with the descent, was very technical and suited the time trial specialists. So with my 15-second advantage at the intermediate check I was not sure it would be enough. But then I gave it everything. I am confident that my team and I are ready to defend the yellow jersey tomorrow.”
